Life Reflections
I love to write and share my thoughts on faith, life, and everything in between. As I share my journey, I hope you are inspired and encouraged. I hope you read something here that makes you smile, makes you nod, makes you take down a thought, makes you share… and if nothing else I hope you are amused and entertained. Enjoy!
Things I Said I Will Do
There are things I want to do that I just have not done. Let me put it a different way, there are dreams I have had that I have written off as impossible simply because I don’t think can achieve them and yet I know years from now I will look back and them and wonder “but what if I did.”
To My Only Son
Your name is the voice of God so know that your words carry weight. Live as someone who carries the Spirit of the living God in him and allow God to be the one that guides the choices you make in life because you are not ordinary; never forget that. I love you so much and I am thankful and beyond proud to be your mother.
To My Firstborn Child
I have always said I want to write more to my children, to leave a legacy of notes and letters for them to read in their older years. I wonder how beautiful it will be when I am gone from this earth for them to read words from my heart. As the saying goes there is no better time than now, so here it goes.
Ijoba Orun
The night of Arif’s death, we didn’t know what to do with our feelings. One by one, students found their way to the empty ironing room of the second hostel. We stayed in the dark and we all wailed together. I first went to my room, but when I found no one to cry with; I followed the sound of humming I heard until I found my way to the upper room.
A Good God
Do I only see the good nature of God when life is good and seems fair? What about when the worst of your imagination happens Shile,…..can you really bring yourself to say “God is good.”
Pause Long Enough
If each new day is a blessing, then there is also a lesson. It doesn’t have to be big and dramatic and there is so much to learn in the small things.
Birthday Reflections
It was my birthday yesterday and I had some time to reflect. Reflect on the past year, and how far I have come.
The Road Unplanned
It is a reminder to us that in those times and seasons especially when we are close to giving up we should pause and ask ourselves to seek God’s perspective like Saul’s servant said, and maybe, just maybe we will get direction for the road unplanned. In these types of seasons, we get to know a side of God.
Concert Days
You see I really love concerts, I love the gathering of people together and I love the sound of corporate worship. Maybe a part of it is that in some way it is a slight reflection of what heaven will be like where we will all gather in one voice, all colors in the presence of our maker. I love the collective chants, the singing off-key, the wild moments of intense joy…..
Spread Kindness
Let us choose to be people that show love and extend kindness to others. Let us choose to be people that sprinkle joy around where ever we go and lift people up instead of tearing them down. Let us be people that make others feel better about themselves and give people a reason to smile. Weight gain during and after pregnancy is such a sensitive topic …
